The pretty little cottage sits in the middle of the most stunningly beautiful Sligo countryside, an area steeped in melena of archaeological, local history and mythology.

The surrounding land has been worked for over 5000 since the late Neolithic progressed from Hunter-Gatherers to farming approximately 3000 BC. The existence of numerous Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age monuments located in and around the area, attest to this.

Furthermore, the townland name ‘Kilshalvey’ (Cill O Sealbhaigh in Irish) meaning the Church of Hogan, is part of the Achonry parish since records began during the early Christianization of Ireland (600-700 AD.), providing ample opportunity for genealogical and heritage exploration.

The cottage is located near two traditional Irish villages, which provide all amenities, variety of shops restaurants and places of interest to visit. The larger town of Sligo is a 20-minute drive away. The Caves of Keash, and Corran Mountain, are visible from the front lawn of the cottage, and there are numerous walks/cycle ways available to you in whatever landscape you choose to explore.
